Chow Bistro
Mayor Jenna: I recently took a field trip to Chow Bistro in nearby Collegeville Borough. My friend and I were treated to such a delightful meal (both in taste and service)!
It was one of those meals you force yourself to eat very, very slowly because you know ahead of time you will be so sad when it’s finished. We didn’t exactly lick our plates, because, I mean, it’s a nice place and we are civilized people! We did, however, do a lot of moaning of the “this is so delicious” kind.
First, we tried the salmon tartare which came out on a crispy shell with fresh avocado, mango, microgreens, and a delightful, bright drizzle on top. Next, some homemade dumplings (each hand rolled with love by the owner and operator, Mai) with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce that I would like to use on everything I ever eat. The main course was a perfectly cooked salmon topped with lump crab, crispy brussel sprouts and potato wedges all with a hollandaise that I wanted to drink like a cocktail, but again, #civilized. :)
We took our time, sharing a bottle of wine (it’s BYOB!) and all the while, our servers were attentive, and Mai herself greeted us with enthusiasm. She took over the business in 2018 and loves every second she’s at the restaurant prepping, feeding customers, and running her business. You can literally taste her love and passion, and we were so happy to partake and meet her and her team. (If you didn’t know, they also frequently give out dozens of free, hot meals to the community!)
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation and/or check out her new restaurant just down the road, Chow Bistro!
Thanks for a wonderful meal, Mai!
Bloom Southern Kitchen
Mayor Jenna: Bloom Southern Kitchen over in Chester Springs has been on my foodie bucket list for some time and everything was incredible. From the biscuits to the bacon, I wanted to stay in the bright and welcoming earth toned dining area all day. An upscale southern menu, the food was both elegant and cozy. The details made the difference. I'll be returning to see where else I can utilize that bold hot sauce and to see what other takes David and his chefs have on classic southern cooking. Oh! And they have an extra extensive whisky and bourbon menu and have a private dining room for events in this gorgeous 1800s house! Make a reservation online and treat yo'self!
